چکیده
This experiment investigates the susceptibility of an ECGmachine to emissions from unintentional emitters such as aGameBoyTM and iPod NanoTM, and intentional emitters such asa Cell Phone, Portable 2.4 GHz Phone, Portable 5.8 GHzPhone and Walkie-Talkie. Experiments were conducted both ina “lab” and hospital environments. The authors demonstratethat all of the above popular electronic devices can interferewith an electrocardiogram (ECG) and corrupt the readings.Heartbeat changes ranging from 14 to 28 beats per minute wererecorded due to EMI from these devices. Although Doctors andMedical Technicians have been alerted to the possibility ofinterference from intentional emitters, they are generallyunaware that popular unintentional emitters can corrupt theirequipment. These results clearly illustrate the need for includ-ing both intentional and unintentional emitters in the EMI con-trol of hospitals, medical offices and home care environments.

FPGA I/O Timing Variations Due to Simultaneous Switching Outputs
Voltage noise and timing variations due to simultaneous switching outputs (SSO) impact the performance of modern nano-technology devices. There is a lack of research of I/O timing variations due to SSO; the frequency relationships between the victim and aggressors I/Os have not been revealed. In this paper, we study signal timing variations of two parts: output driver and pre-drive stages. We s...
متن کاملAnalysis of DLL Jitter Affected by Power Supply Noise on Power Distribution Network
In this paper, we analyze a noise-to-jitter transfer function on DLL (Delay Locked Loop) considering power supply noise effects on PDN (Power Distribution Network). Noise-tojitter transfer function of DLL circuit can be estimated by using single-tone power supply noise analysis. Noise transfer function through the PDN can be obtained from transfer impedance of hierarchical PDN using TLM (Transm...

متن کاملDESIGNCON 2009 SSO Noise, Eye Margin, and Jitter Characterization for I/O Power Integrity
In this paper, we describe the Power Integrity design and characterization for a single ended I/O interface through noise, EYE margin, and jitter measurements. The frequency domain techniques are used for designing the I/O PDN. For PDN characterization, onchip PDN elements are extracted through the VNA measurements. The peak to peak voltage noise is measured on-chip at the driver. The Eye margi...
متن کاملModeling FPGA Current Waveform and Spectrum and PDN Noise Estimation
Dynamic current variations in FPGA or microprocessors are major characteristics for analyzing noise in a power delivery network (PDN). Direct measurement of FPGA dynamic current variation is a very difficult problem, and is less studied than other PDN design questions. In this paper, a methodology to model the FPGA dynamic current waveform and its spectrum is developed and presented. Implementa...
